Dear Editor,
The Salvation Army needed extra help this season and then the plea went out for help through many articles written in the Gilroy Dispatch. We want to thank all of you in the communities of Gilroy, San Martin and Morgan Hill for your outpouring of generosity and support during this holiday season.
If you are amongst those who responded we sincerely thank you for your personal interest and financial and material involvement. Your acts of kindness made a difference in people’s lives during this season of sharing and caring.
You helped:
• Adopt 54 families who needed extra TLC
• Give more than 550 food boxes and almost 800 toys to needy families
• Collect more than $12,500 from the Bell Ringers sites in Gilroy and Morgan Hill
• KSBW Nob Hill Telethon collected $2769, 2000 pounds of food, 145 turkeys, 10 pounds of clothing and 612 toys
• 23 Local businesses and/or corporations sponsored both toy and food barrels
• Help a family who is homeless, but is soon getting a place to live, supply the family with furniture, pots and pans, towels, silverware, blankets and dishes
• Help a family whose mother is the sole supporter of the family of four children younger than 12
• Help a family whose father just died and the mother was left as the sole supporter of the family of seven children
• Donate gifts to the “Angel Tree” at Nob Hill in Gilroy for underprivileged children
Gilroy, San Martin and Morgan Hill Communities – Thank you for being so generous and wonderfully giving in our plea to make Christmas something extra special.
