Alison Janelle Bangham and Javier Contreras III were married Sept. 28, 2012.

Alison, daughter of Daniel Bangham and Pamela Pirtle of Hollister, graduated from San Benito High School and San Francisco State University. She is employed at Costco Optical.

Javier, son of Olga Covarrubias and Javier Contreras II of Hollister, is a graduate of San Benito High School. He is a supervisor at Costco.

The couple was married at The Cliffs Resort in Pismo Beach.

Eugenia Park

Eugenia Park, a freshman at Biola University and resident of Gilroy, was among 132 students who received the one of the college’s highest scholarship – the provost’s scholarship – for the 2012-2013 academic year.

Freshmen are eligible for the provost’s scholarship – $8,000 per year – if upon entering the university, they meet the requirements of the scholarship. Students are considered for this scholarship upon admission to the university based on their GPA and SAT scores. The requirements of the scholarship are a GPA between 3.2 and 3.5 along with an SAT score of 1350-1500. Students must maintain a GPA of 3.0 to continue to receive the following year.
