Jackie, from Gilroy, is a knowledge operator in the United States Air Force. Alfredo, from Chico, is a fitness specialist in the U.S. Air Force.
The couple met while stationed at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii.

Cadence Darlene Buffum was born March 17, 2011 at Santa Teresa Kaiser Medical Center to Zack and Aimee Buffum of Gilroy. She weighed 6 pounds, 5 ounces.

Gabriel Rodriguez
Air Force Airman Gabriel T. Rodriguez graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
He is the son of Tommy Rodriguez of Hollister and Eyvette Power of Union City.
Joshua Barats
Army National Guard Pvt. Joshua C. Barats has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
He is the son of Jeff and Sue Barats of Morgan Hill, and a 2007 graduate of Central High School.
Eric Poth
Navy Seaman Eric M. Poth, son of Pamela A. and Felix M. Poth of Morgan Hill, completed U.S. Navy school at the Naval Nuclear Training Power Command in South Carolina, followed by nine months of intensive training with the U.S. Department Of Energy in New York State.
After graduation, he reported to the USS George Washington in Yokosuka, Japan on March.
Eric Poth is a 2008 graduate of Live Oak High School.
Esteban Talevera
Esteban Talevera is the Gavilan College employee of the month.
Esteban is the assistant coordinator (Instructional Program Specialist) in the writing center and has been with the college since January 2002. He is a touchstone for students, writing assistants and faculty. He keeps the Writing Center running smoothly and keeps it a learner-friendly environment. He does his work with commitment and dedication and a sense of calm that is so important when working with such a diverse group of students.
Nicholas Ferguson
Navy Seaman Apprentice Nicholas R. Ferguson, son of Adriene K. Rodriguez of San Martin, recently reported for duty at Navy and Marine Intelligence Training Center, Virginia Beach, Va.
Ferguson is a 2009 graduate of Live Oak High School and joined the Navy in November 2010.

Stephanie Wan was named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2010 semester at Tufts University. Dean’s List honors at Tufts University require a semester grade point average of 3.4 or greater.
ANNIVERSARY
Perez’s celebrate 65 years
Raymond and Mariana Perez, of Gilroy, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on March 14. The couple was married March 14, 1946.
Ray and Mariana’s five children, most of their grandchildren and one brand new great-great grandchild attended their anniversary celebration, which included a lunch and a beautiful cake. The family is happy they have been together for so many years and are still doing well.
