Ramona Rosales and Eric Merrell were married May 8, 2010.
Somewhere in between long hikes in the San Gabriel Mountains (“Eric, I think we should turn back now”) and camping in the desert (“The rattlesnakes won’t actually chase you”), photographer Ramona Rosales, of Long Beach, and artist Eric Merrell, of Gilroy, decided that they both loved Spanish food, wine and each other.
The bright-eyed couple exchanged vows at the Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park in Carlsbad along with their families, friends and a host of peafowl. Their two cats were unable to attend.
Ramona is the daughter of Peggy O’Neil-Rosales and Eddie Rosales. Eric is the son of Carrie and Ed Merrell.
The couple reside in Los Angeles.
ENGAGEMENT
Villa/Elia
Lacey Villa and Jared Elia are engaged to be married.
Lacey, daughter of Ernie Villa and Lori Workman, earned a bachelor’s degree from Cal Poly Pomona in apparel merchandising and management. She is an assistant buyer for NapaStyle.
Jared, son of Gary and Diane Elia, earned a bachelor’s degree from Cal State Monterey Bay. He is a resource biologist for Environmental Science Associates.
The couple will be wed Aug. 28 in the late afternoon at Elliston Winery in Sunol with all their family and friends in attendance.
The happy couple will be enjoying a tropical honeymoon in Tahiti and will reside in Walnut Creek.

Sharadin Renee Nielsen
Sigma Alpha Lambda is proud to announce that Sharadin Renee Nielsen, of Gilroy, was recently recognized as a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda, National Leadership and Honors Organization at San Jose State University.
Sigma Alpha Lambda is a national leadership and honors organization dedicated to promoting and rewarding academic achievement and providing members with opportunities for community service, personal development, and lifelong professional fulfillment.
Sharadin is the daughter of Barry G. Nielsen and Heather A. Nielsen, both of Gilroy.
Melissa Nicole Walton
Melissa Nicole Walton has graduated with distinction from the University of Nevada. To graduate with distinction a student must earn a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or greater. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English/creative writing and political science, with a minor in religious studies. During her undergraduate work, she was a member of the Delta Epsilon Iota and Sigma Alpha Pi Honor Societies, and during the fall 2007 semester she studied abroad in the Czech Republic.
This fall she will be attending Northwestern School of Law at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Ore., to pursue a Juris Doctor degree in law.
Melissa, a 2006 graduate of San Benito High School, is the daughter of Karol Burke of Hollister and Andy Walton of Morgan Hill.
