Rubacalva belts three-run homer to lead Dan Keith squad to 12-6
victory over formerly unbeaten Hitmen
GILROY – A battle of softball unbeatens at Gavilan Sports Park for sole possession of first place in the Men’s DDD League went the way of Dan Keith Septics, emerging with a 12-6 win over the Hitmen.

Danny Rubacalva connected for a three-run home run in the fourth inning as Dan Keith Septics (3-0 for the second half) stormed to a 10-3 lead. Robert Van Tassel provided three extra-base hits and four RBI for the winners. The Hitmen (2-1) countered with a three-run homer from Mario Razo in the first inning. Isaiah Rodriguez went 3-for-3 for the Hitmen.

California Overhead joined the Hitmen at 2-1 with an 18-12 nod over Bay Sheets.

Robert Tate anchored the Overhead Door offense with a grand slam, a triple and two singles. Mario Maciel went 3-for-5 for the winners. Bay Sheets exploded for 10 runs in the top of the first inning, then went scoreless until a three-run sixth. John Gonzales and Dave Gaeta each clubbed two singles in the Bay first frame.

Victory Outreach toppled Most Wanted 18-13. John Hernandez hit a first-inning home run and finished 4-for-5 for the winners. Jaime Rosso hit a three-run homer for Most Wanted.

Chicks N’ Sticks improved to 3-0 in the second half of the Co-Rec League at Las Animas Park with a 10-8 edging of Dutchman’s Pizza-Big Kahunas.

Trailing 5-3 after four, Chicks N’ Sticks responded with a seven-run fifth inning. Jessica Loza highlighted the rally with a two-run triple.

Dave Perez went 4-for-5 for the winners. Mark Logan muscled three hits and Danny Benz scored three runs for Dutchman’s-Big Kahunas.

Rene Mercer went 2-for-3 and scored two runs as Team Hair FX defeated Rush Order 16-1. Bobby Granados drilled an RBI-double for Rush Order.

Dicar Insurance erased a 7-5 deficit with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, completing a 9-7 victory over the Covenant Builders.

Willie Gamboa Jr., Jen Olvera, Vicki Velasquez and Kyle Costa each singled and scored in the Dicar sixth. Alma Quistian led the Dicar attack with three hits. Brian Moreno, Shaleen Moreno and Rich Adams each managed two hits for Covenant.
