Gilroy police nabbed an alleged serial child sexual abuser in

was arrested at his home for the ongoing sexual abuse of a child,
among a host of other charges.

Efren Becerra, 29, of Lean Avenue in San Jose, was arrested at his home for the ongoing sexual abuse of a child, among a host of other charges. He is charged with three counts of having sexual intercourse, sodomy, oral copulation or penetration of a child under 10 years old, two counts of ongoing sexual abuse of a child, lewd acts with a child 14 or 15 years old when a perpetrator is 10 years older than the victim and lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14.
Gilroy detectives learned Becerra had molested three female victims – one who is now an adult – over the course of several years and, after interviewing the victims, teamed up with the San Jose Police Department to take him into custody.
According to Gilroy police, Becerra knew the girls, though police did not specify in what capacity. After collecting evidence, including “unspecified electronic evidence,” police were able to corroborate the victims’ reports.
It is not clear where the molestations took place and if all the victims are from Gilroy. Police did not return phone calls seeking clarification.
Police interviewed Becerra at the Gilroy Police Department then booked him into the Santa Clara County Jail in San Jose.
