Springs. The two consumed alcohol and hiked around the area between
2 and 5 p.m. Friday. After they got separated, the man returned to
where he parked his 2009 blue Honda Pilot and it was missing.
Sheriff’s arrests

Under the influence

Roberto Eduardo Torres, 24, of Gilroy, 1:37 p.m. Monday, near 10th and Eigleberry streets.

Ventura Brewster Pena, 30, of Gilroy, 12:15 p.m. Sept. 29, near Monterey Road and Farrell Avenue.

Frank Tadao Shimabukuro, 43, of Gilroy, 12:30 a.m. Sept. 29, near Murray Avenue and Burke Drive for being under the influence of a controlled substance, driving with a suspended license and probation violation.

Sale of methamphetamine

Bernardo Andrade Vasquez, 52, of Gilroy, 7:22 a.m. Sunday, on the 7000 block of Church Avenue for sale of methamphetamine and possession of stolen property after deputies found numerous baggies of methamphetamine, hypodermic needles, other drug paraphernalia and stolen license plates in his residence during a probation search. The residence’s cohabitants, Sotro Beccera, 24, and Sandra Rodriguez, 34, were arrested and Monica Evelyn Juarez, 25, was cited.

Other sheriff’s incidents

Petty theft

A wallet containing $320 was stolen from an unlocked 2000 bronze Chevy Silverado on the 970 block of Arizona Circle, between 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday.

Vehicle burglary

A purse, credit cards and radio equipment worth $680 were stolen from a locked 2006 chrome Toyota 4-Runner at Gavilan College, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd., and a window was smashed, between 7:55 and 9:05 a.m. Saturday.

Vehicle theft

A man picked up a female hitchhiker and drove to Gilroy Hot Springs. The two consumed alcohol and hiked around the area between 2 and 5 p.m. Friday. After they got separated, the man returned to where he parked his 2009 blue Honda Pilot and it was missing.

Grand theft

A San Martin man’s $10,000 coin collection was stolen while he was moving into a new home on the 300 block of Summit Road, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sept. 26.

Harassing phone calls

A 42-year-old man from Whitehills, Ariz., has allegedly gotten drunk and made harassing phone calls to a woman on the 5900 block of Croy Road in Morgan Hill multiple times during the last five years. When contacted, the man made an obscene comment to a deputy.

Burglary

A rifle, shotgun, ammunition, baseball cards and a Crock Pot worth $930 were stolen from a locked storage cabinet in a barn on the 8300 block of Flossa Way, between 8 p.m. Sept. 19 and 7 a.m. Sept. 30.

Recovered stolen vehicle

A 1976 brown Chevrolet El Camino that was reported stolen out of Gilroy was not actually stolen and was found near Monterey Street and San Martin Avenue in San Martin, 7:03 p.m. Sept. 29.

Identity theft

Several fraudulent online purchases were made using a San Martin man’s debit card, between 12 a.m. Sept. 19 and 3:30 p.m. Sept. 29.
