Gilroy's Cynthia Sanchez gets up to win control of the ball last

Monique Barragan and Cynthia Sanchez each scored two goals and the Gilroy High girls soccer team passed up North Salinas 5-0 on the road Wednesday.
Katrina Carter had the other goal for the Mustangs (11-6-2 overall, 9-1-1 Tri-County Athletic League), who jumped one point ahead of Salinas for first place with one to go. And that one is against the Cowboys on Friday at 5:15 p.m. at GHS.
If the Mustangs win or tie they will clinch a sixth straight league title.
In Wednesday’s game, Taylor Slattery had two assists and Alexi Slattery had one. Sanchez’s goals gave her 17 on the season.
