Playing without starting pitcher Aly Olvera, who will miss two weeks of action after suffering a concussion during a tournament last weekend, the Christopher High softball team rallied for a “big team win” 5-1 over Watsonville on Thursday.
The road victory pushes CHS to 6-0 in the Monterey Bay League (first place) and 11-5 overall.
The Cougars scored twice in the top of the fourth to slip in front of the Wildcatz, 2-1. CHS padded the lead in the top of the seventh with three runs.
Kristen Dennis went 2 for 3 with three RBIs, while Kaslin Ettema, Karli Martinez, Mariah Martinez, Kayla Medrano and Mackensie Holt each had two hits apiece.
Angelica Carrillo filled in well for Olvera in the circle to earn the win, striking out two and allowing just four hits in seven innings.
The Cougars play crosstown rival Gilroy High today at 4:30 p.m. at GHS.
