Morgan Hill – The Morgan Hill Community & Cultural Center will make space available to visual artists who wish to participate in Silicon Valley Open Studios on May 1 and 2.
The fee for each artist will be $30 for the two-day usage of the space, in order to cover opening and maintenance costs of the Center.
Each artist will be provided approximately 10-feet-by-10-feet of space. Divider screens for hanging art will be made available by request to the first 12 artists who sign up. Tables (uncovered) are available upon request. Artists are expected to be present (or have a representative present on their behalf) throughout the event, and are responsible for their own space and sales. Art can be moved in and set up starting at 9 a.m. May 1. Art must be taken down and removed between 5 and 6 p.m. May 2.
Silicon Valley Open Studios will take place in South County May 1 and 2 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Artists can register for Open Studios at www.svopenstudios.org.
The fee for an artists showing at a common address is $105 (as opposed to $120 at a unique address). While the Web site indicates late registration is available until Nov. 15 with a late registration fee of $50, the late fee WILL BE WAIVED for artists registering under the group name (common address) Morgan Hill Community & Cultural Center. Images need to be received by Nov. 24 for inclusion in the catalogues and for jury in the Stars entry.
Silicon Valley Open Studios provides the following for registered artists:
• An image and contact info in the 4 color catalogue
• An image and contact info in the weekend map guide
• A web page in the online catalog (online images can be updated throughout the year by the artists)
• One piece featured in the “Peek” preview exhibition
• An artists’ reception at the Peek exhibition site, open to the public
• The option to apply for “Stars” entry – an artist can apply for Stars jury and submit 5 images. Those who are accepted by jury will receive a star next to their name in the catalogs and maps indicating that they have been selected by the jury as a recommended artist
The “Peek” preview is a two-week long exhibition prior to Open Studios, featuring one work by each featured artist in the area. Catalogs and maps will be available on site. An artists’ reception will take place at the site, and will be open to the public. The site selected for the South County Peek Exhibition is the Morgan Hill Community & Cultural Center.
