SALINAS – The Mustang diamondmen one again could not deliver with the lumber in Friday’s return game against Salinas – falling 11-1 to their T-CAL opponents.

Gilroy (0-2 in T-CAL, 1-6 overall) – which scored its only run in the top of the first – dug itself into deep hole early as the Cowboys hammered away at sophomore starter Peter Mickartz for six runs in the opening two innings.

The Mustangs managed four hits compared to Salinas’ eight base knocks – including a Danny Reyes home run. Gilroy also committed three errors to the Cowboys’ one.

Gilroy hopes to find its swing with a March 19 home game against Hollister at 3:30 p.m. before heading to San Benito High for a March 21 road game.
