If the Tri-County Athletic League gave out an annual Most-Enthusiastic award, a likely frontrunner for that distinction this year could have been Gilroy High volleyball player Connor Escobar.
BRIEF: Spots still open for Friday’s annual Cougar 10-hole Classic
Two foursome spots are still available for Christopher High School’s third annual Cougar 10-hole Classic at Gilroy Golf Course on May 25. Cost per person is $75, and there are also a few solo spots still open. Money goes toward costs to cover referees and umpires. Gilroy High track and field coach Cathy Silva said senior sprinter Jourdan Soares hasn't peaked yet this season. That thought is indeed promising for Soares, one of the Mustangs most successful track athletes in recent years. It is also scary for anyone lined up to his right or left.

The expression on pitcher Aly Olvera's face said it all. A quick glance back and up at the scoreboard above the center field fence validated the truth that her prep career was nearing the end much sooner than she and the rest of the Christopher High softball team had envisioned when waking up that morning.
