MID CALS: Gilroy holds slight lead after Day 1

After Day 1 of the 32nd annual Mid Cals, the double-elimination tournament looks to be headed to a wild Day 2 and finals Saturday night. Host Gilroy High has a narrow lead on defending champion Selma at the conclusion of Friday’s all-day action.

THURSDAY ROUNDUP: CHS girls soccer, hoops lose first league games

It was a rough night all around for Gilroy teams. Aside from the Gilroy High boys soccer team, which tied San Benito 1-1, the local teams were on the wrong ends of the results. The CHS girls basketball and soccer teams suffered their first league losses, while the CHS boys basketball team dipped below .500 in the MBL.
