Hoops: Several local high school stars chosen for all-star games
Several local high school basketball players have been invited to play in the Salinas Steinbeck Rotary Club Sixth Annual North-South High School All-Star Basketball Classic games for the North teams Friday at the Boys & Girls Club of Monterey County in Salinas.
FOOTBALL: Gilroy High, San Benito square off in annual Prune Bowl tonight
Gilroy High senior lineman Izack Lugo has one vivid memory of the last time the Mustangs faced San Benito. The game clocked at just reached triple zeros of a one-sided 39-3 Balers victory in the 2011 Prune Bowl.

The Christopher High girls volleyball team completed the regular-season sweep of crosstown rival Gilroy High, claiming a victory in four sets (25-21, 25-17, 23-25, 25-20) on Thursday night.

Prep Softball: Martinelli’s 7th inning homer lifts Sobrato past Gilroy
GILROY—Gilroy’s Lauren Castro and Sobrato’s Morgan Martinelli have played together since they were 8 years old and know how dangerous each other can be. So when Martinelli stepped up to the plate in the top of the seventh inning—the game tied at 3-3—Castro knew that anything could happen.
Late game heroics send Gilroy, Serra to tie for CCS Championship
The two best teams in CCS DII will remain so in the record books as Gilroy and Serra weren’t able to settle who was better after 100 minutes of physical and emotional soccer.
