Hoops Roundup: Mustang boys win fifth straight

David Gonzalez scored 16 points to lead Gilroy High’s boys basketball team to a 63-61 win at Pajaro Valley on Friday night.

Behind Scott Taylor and Derek Jensen's timely, sharp shooting, the Gavilan College men's basketball team orchestrated a second-half comeback from down by 13 with 12 minutes left to up by two and on the verge of Coast Conference victory No. 1 against visiting Hartnell on Friday night. However, an unfathomable 3-pointer and a pair of Panthers free throws carried Hartnell to a 76-73 win over the Rams.

BASEBALL: Cougars lose in extra innings, 2-0

Despite seven scoreless innings on the mound from Brian Ransom, the Christopher High baseball team lost in extra innings, 2-0, against Homestead in its Wilcox Tournament opener Monday in Santa Clara.

FOOTBALL: Tough night on the gridiron for GHS, CHS

Friday night was not all right for the Gilroy High and Christopher High football teams in the Monterey Bay League Gabilan Division.
