HOLLISTER—The Christopher and San Benito boys basketball teams came into Wednesday’s game with one objective—to earn their first Monterey Bay League Gabilan Division victory. It was the Cougars who left Mattson Gym happy, coming away with a 67-60 win.

Gilroy coach Brian Boyd contributes the loss to Live Oak to three key plays: two bad snaps on third and short that were recovered, but forced the Mustangs to punt and a play where the ball took a funny bounce on an Acorns kickoff that Gilroy thought was going out of play, but was recovered by the hosts and returned for a touchdown.

Aptos scored two goals in each half to come away with a 4-0 win at Gilroy Monday.

Seedings for the 2014 Central Coast Section football playoffs were announced Sunday and the new Monterey Bay League Pacific Division champion Christopher Cougars earned a first round home game. 

GILROY — For the first time in school history Christopher walked away the winner of the crosstown clash with Gilroy.

The Gilroy boys soccer team closed out the non-league season with a 2-1 win over North Monterey County.
