Prep Football: Gilroy, Christopher fall in Week 6

SALINAS—Things didn't go as planned for Gilroy or Christopher Friday as both teams left Salinas with a loss. The Mustangs fell 21-7 to Alisal, while the Cowboys sent the Cougars home with a 41-7 loss.

Softball: Carrillo, Cougars top Willow Glen

Angelica Carrillo pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts and went 1-for-2 with two RBIs to power Christopher High’s softball team to a 4-3 home win over Willow Glen on Friday.

Roundup: Tabron, Guerra lead balanced CHS girls to victory

Jack Tardieu’s driving layup just before the final buzzer lifted Palma’s boys basketball team to a 56-54 victory at Christopher on Monday night.

BRIEF: Spots still open for Friday’s annual Cougar 10-hole Classic

Two foursome spots are still available for Christopher High School’s third annual Cougar 10-hole Classic at Gilroy Golf Course on May 25. Cost per person is $75, and there are also a few solo spots still open. Money goes toward costs to cover referees and umpires. FOOTBALL: Turnovers capsize Gilroy’s effort in loss to Monterey

If the first turnover was the snowball, then the six others that followed created one giant avalanche that swallowed the Gilroy High football team and left a Monterey High 54-21 victory in its wake on homecoming night Friday in Gilroy.
