Santa Catalina had 35 straight wins heading into Thursday's contest against Christopher, but the Cougars put an end to that.  The Christopher girls golf team topped Santa Catalina 257-265 Thursday at Gilroy Golf Course.  Natalie Gutierrez scored at 47 to lead the Cougars against S.C. Julie Santiago shot a 52, Kylie Kuwada a 52, Nina Velez a 53, Alex Granados a 54 and Mia Navarro a 62. Navarro drove No. 17 green to get her first official birdie.  S.C.'s Chloe Corriveau was the medalist, shooting a 38.  CROSS COUNTRY

The Christopher High softball team upended defending Monterey Bay League champion Monterey High with an exhilarating 4-3 triumph in 11 innings on Thursday night.
SOCCER: GHS boys keep slim playoff hopes alive with 2-1 win
The magnitude of the final week of the regular season took on heavier implications for the Gilroy High boys soccer team and head coach Armando Padilla after learning they must forfeit last Friday's 1-0 win at Alvarez because an ineligible player, who received two yellow cards in the previous game, played in Friday's match.

College Diving: Makin’ it look easy
Nathan Myers jumped off the diving board at Christopher High, thinking the only impact it would have would be his body hitting the water. The then-junior was just fooling around, enjoying the honor luau as a result of his good grades. But from the instant his feet left the board, Cougars diving coach Paul Wells was watching—and his trained eyes realizing natural talent.
