Santa Catalina had 35 straight wins heading into Thursday's contest against Christopher, but the Cougars put an end to that.  The Christopher girls golf team topped Santa Catalina 257-265 Thursday at Gilroy Golf Course.  Natalie Gutierrez scored at 47 to lead the Cougars against S.C. Julie Santiago shot a 52, Kylie Kuwada a 52, Nina Velez a 53, Alex Granados a 54 and Mia Navarro a 62. Navarro drove No. 17 green to get her first official birdie.  S.C.'s Chloe Corriveau was the medalist, shooting a 38.  CROSS COUNTRY
Roundup: CHS baseball, GHS softball teams win again
Robert Driscal went 4-for-4 with a double, an RBI and scored two runs to lead Christopher High’s baseball team to a 10-7 home win over Monterey on Tuesday.

GILROY—Just hours before his tournament championship game, Nate Schilling was practicing his shooting with his dad. The pointers his dad gave him—keep your elbow straight and get a lot of arch on your shot—resonated through Schilling’s head all game and helped him out his recent shooting funk—not to mention being Oakwood’s leading scorer, too.

GILROY—It was eerily silent as Jimmy Lemberger stood at the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning. Josiah Wiley, the tying run, stood on second base and all Lemberger had to do was bring him home to keep Gilroy’s chances alive.
Softball: Balers squeeze by Gilroy 2-1 in league opener
It’s been since 2006 that the Gilroy HIgh softball team has been able to best San Benito. But that doesn’t mean the Mustangs haven’t had their chances, and Tuesday that streak continued in Gilroy as the Balers made it 20 straight wins over their rival.
