GILROY—The season may be over for the Mustangs, but they continue to bring in the hardware.

Gilroy rode strong second and fourth quarters to defeat Pajaro Valley 29-19 on Senior Night Saturday.

GILROY—Live Oak wanted to get its season off to a fast start. And after Friday night’s 42-6 win opening night win over Gilroy at Christopher High, the Acorns can safely say it was a mission accomplished.

Taylor Slattery scored on an assist from Morgan Rogers to help Gilroy High’s girls soccer team to a 1-1 tie against visiting San Benito on Friday night at Garcia Elder Sports Complex.

SALINAS—Gilroy stopped Alisal on its opening drive on a three and out. The ensuing punt was bobbled and the Trojans turned it into a quick 6-0 lead.

For the second year in a row, Live Oak has run the table against the three South County teams after defeating Gilroy 53-27 Friday.

Gilroy extended its undefeated over Christopher, beating its crosstown rival 3-0 Saturday at CHS. 

MORGAN HILL—In the first set of Thursday’s match at Live Oak, Christopher couldn’t get that final point to take a 1-0 lead.

SARATOGA—Before the season, Christopher wasn’t sure how things would pan out. It had lost 12 players to graduation, but had a slew of young talent eager to learn the game. The question marks quickly started to fade as the Cougars came together and picked up lopsided wins all season long, ultimately leading to their third Central Coast Section appearance in three years.

The Gilroy High field hockey team remains undefeated in the Mt. Hamilton A League.
