The Gilroy girls golf team was three strokes shy of an upsetting Alisal Monday, but the Mustangs aren’t hanging their heads.

Nathan Myers jumped off the diving board at Christopher High, thinking the only impact it would have would be his body hitting the water. The then-junior was just fooling around, enjoying the honor luau as a result of his good grades. But from the instant his feet left the board, Cougars diving coach Paul Wells was watching—and his trained eyes realizing natural talent.

Both Gilroy water polo teams made a splash on Tuesday.

Taylor Slattery scored on an assist from Morgan Rogers to help Gilroy High’s girls soccer team to a 1-1 tie against visiting San Benito on Friday night at Garcia Elder Sports Complex.

The season came to a close for two local teams Tuesday as both found themselves eliminated from the postseason. 

As the season rolls on, the Cougars keep getting better.

SALINAS—The last time Kaylah Grant ran at Toro Park, she took a wrong turn, adding minutes to her time.

GILROY — For the first time in school history Christopher walked away the winner of the crosstown clash with Gilroy.

The Christopher girls tennis was finally at full strength, having all its varsity players present for it's match against Monte Vista Christian.

GILROY—“We’re on a mission this year,” Gilroy coach Brian Boyd said while looking out at the field full of players practicing during spring football session. “We’ve headed in the right direction, we’re going up and that’s the plan. We just want to get to the playoffs. We don’t care what our record is, we just want to get to the playoffs.”
