GILROY—This time last year, Gilroy High was scrambling for a solution for its condemned bleachers. The home side bleachers had been deemed “not structurally sound” by San Jose-based Duquette Engineering and were said to be out of commission until April 2014. 

When Gilroy’s Kimberly Davis and San Benito’s Corey Latham woke up Saturday morning, the two seniors couldn’t help but think about the possibility that they would be swimming in their final individual events of their high school career.

Hanna Tabron scored 12 points, but Christopher High’s girls basketball team saw its season end with a 38-26 home loss to Notre Dame of San Jose in the quarterfinals of the Central Coast Section Division III playoffs Saturday.

GILROY—Thursday’s game against Presentation was bittersweet for Gilroy’s four seniors. While the 9-1 win over the Panthers was exactly the ending they hoped for, the graduating Mustangs were still in disbelief that they had played their final game at the Garcia-Elder Sports Complex.

Brendan Spillane scored in the first half to lead Sacred Heart Prep’s boys soccer team to a 1-0 win over Gilroy High in the semifinals of the Central Coast Section Division III playoffs Wednesday night at Garcia-Elder Sports Complex.

Dallas Wilson was a homer shy of the cycle, Ben Reeder drove in three and scored a trio of runs and Max Pierce capped everything off with a booming home run as Gilroy blew past Pajaro Valley, 11-1.

After dropping its first game of the Aptos Tournament, Christopher rebounded with two big wins to close it out. 

Seaside was within one run of Christopher heading into the top of the fourth, trailing 5-4, but then the Cougars pounced into action.
