With Thursday’s match between Gilroy and Christopher tied at 3-all, it was up to the No. 3 doubles team to decide a winner.

GILROY—Christopher had to work to get on the board, but ultimately scored in bunches as it beat Gilroy 18-5 in the final Friday game of the Stinky Rose Tournament.

MORGAN HILL—In the first set of Thursday’s match at Live Oak, Christopher couldn’t get that final point to take a 1-0 lead.

The Christopher girls golf team recorded its first win of the season, beating North Monterey County 298-312 Wednesday at home. 

GILROY—The Mustangs field hockey team notched its first win of the year and it did it in grand fashion.

GILROY—Each time Christopher and San Benito meet in the water, sparks fly and Tuesday’s contest was no different. The Balers got the better of the Cougars this time, winning 11-7 at Christopher High.

The Gilroy girls golf team was three strokes shy of an upsetting Alisal Monday, but the Mustangs aren’t hanging their heads.

Christopher recorded its third straight sweep, edging Mt. Madonna 25-23, 25-22, 28-26 Thursday in Watsonville.

MORGAN HILL—Zach Heffernan waited patiently for his chance to make a contribution to the Live Oak football team. And on Friday night—a night when Live Oak’s big play makers were making big plays—Heffernan found a way to standout in a 42-14 win over Christopher.

GILROY—Last week, Gilroy head coach Jubenal Rodriguez said his team needed to be more physical. The Mustangs got the message loud and clear.
