TRES PINOS—Alyssa Elliott and Rachel Tripoli are students at San Benito and Christopher, respectively, and neither one plays a sport in high school.

Thursday’s game between the two crosstown rivalry teams, Christopher and Gilroy High, ended in yet another victory for Christopher.

The Christopher High boys varsity basketball team led by three at halftime, by six after three quarters and held a double-digit advantage early in the fourth against visiting Seaside on Tuesday night.

Leilani Mah was unstoppable for Gilroy Monday.   Mah led the Mustangs volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Monterey on the road, snapping a five-game losing streak. GHS won 25-22, 25-19, 25-21 to improve to an overall 3-11 record and 2-8 in league.    Mah racked up...

STANFORD—The week of Oct. 3 was all about Elise Ogle.

Christopher’s Emily Hilkene was scoring goals as if it was business as usual Tuesday. The only thing is, it was the first time she’d played on offense since last season.

GILROY—Thursday’s home meet marked the end of an era for Christopher coach Jeff Myers. After 30 years, the track and field coach is retiring.

GILROY — Among the hoards and within the wafting aroma of literally tons of garlic were athletes and coaches who see and smell it all as the revenue of a new season.

The Gilroy High softball team closed the regular season with back-to-back losses to Salinas and North Salinas, dropping their overall record to 12-10 overall.
