GILROY—Suzy Brookshire hit a three-run home run in the second inning off Gilroy ace Lauren Castro to lead San Benito to a 6-4 win over the Mustangs at Gilroy High.
Youth Soccer: ASMS takes second
The Ascension Solorsano Middle School girls soccer team, shown with coach Angel Trejo, took second place in the East Section April 16 after losing to Valley Christian, which has won the championship for four years straight. ASMS finished higher than more than 30 other teams.
JUCO Baseball: Hawks score 4 in ninth to top Gavilan in Game 1
GILROY—It was a back and forth game between Gavilan and Cosumnes River in the CCCAA Northern California Regional Playoffs opener. If one team got a hit, the other would answer. A big defensive play by either side was matched in the next inning. Neither team could gain the edge—until the top of the ninth inning, that is.
