GILROY — Among the hoards and within the wafting aroma of literally tons of garlic were athletes and coaches who see and smell it all as the revenue of a new season.

Clinging to a one-run lead heading into the top of the seventh inning of Wednesday’s Central Coast Section Division I Baseball Playoffs, Christopher High first-year skipper Adam Perez had a tough call to make.

After playing its first six games away from Gilroy, the Christopher High boys varsity basketball team hit the ground running in its home opener with a 71-48 victory over Pacific Collegiate on Tuesday night.
