DUB Baseball Independence Week Camp

DUB Baseball will host its Independence Week Camp from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. June 30 through July 2 at Live Oak High School.

When I was in high school, there was a stereotype that you couldn’t be smart and athletic. It wasn’t exclusive to my school. It’s been the way Hollywood has portrayed athletes for years—cue the “dumb jock.” 

Christopher Athletes of the Year: Purrfect Pair

Whether it was beating each other to the finish line or beating each other to the lunch line, Christopher’s Cydney Caradonna and Rayshon Mills have been in constant competition since sixth grade. Neither was content with letting the other one win. As a final accolade of their high school careers, Caradonna and Mills are both in the spotlight as the Gilroy Dispatch Athlete of the Year selections from Christopher High—and there’s no one else they’d rather share it with.

Prep Football: CHS freshman workouts begin Monday

Christopher High freshman summer workouts will get underway on June 23. Practice runs from 4-6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and will continue until July 31.

Prep Football: Mustangs freshman football begins

Practice for Gilroy High's freshman football team kicks off today at 4 p.m. and runs until 6:30 p.m. It will continue Thursday and Friday and continues June 23-27 at the same time. Practice is open to interested incoming GHS freshman.

GILROY—“We’re on a mission this year,” Gilroy coach Brian Boyd said while looking out at the field full of players practicing during spring football session. “We’ve headed in the right direction, we’re going up and that’s the plan. We just want to get to the playoffs. We don’t care what our record is, we just want to get to the playoffs.”

GILROY—Bash Brothers (6-1) moved into a tie for first place in the Men’s Friday E Softball League with a 4-2 edging of Freddie Sanchez Hardwood Floors at Las Animas Veterans Park.

Prep Track and Field: Foster medals at state

CLOVIS—Christopher’s Ally Foster has hit 18 feet in the long jump before, but her previous attempts have always been scratches. Not this time.
