The Christopher girls basketball team found itself in hole at halftime, a hole that was too keep to get out of.

Eight Gilroy wrestlers left Palma High victorious Tuesday night. The Mustangs topped the hosts 57-15, losing only one match — heavyweight Santino Orozco lost 6-4 — and  forfeiting two (122 and 140). Nikko Villarreal (154) and Paul Fox (162) maintained their unblemished records, each notching a 'w' at the bout. Villarrel won his match by pin, while Fox won by fall.  Julian Carabajal (172) had the tough task of facing Palma's best wrestler, Martin Martinez. Carbajal was able to get the cradle in the third period to win by fall at 5:25. Gavin Melendez (108) got a nearside cradle at 1:14 to win by fall. Will Calderon (115) also won by fall at 5:03 of his bout.  Victor Daza (128) won by a 9-4 decision, while Victor Olmos (134) won by fall at 3:45. After being outscored by nine points in the first half, the Gavilan women's basketball team turned the tables. 

The Gilroy girls soccer team ended its two game skid against Pajaro Valley.

GILROY — Normally a 13-4 score wouldn’t make a coach happy, but Gavilan coach Neal Andrade was still smiling following the Gavilan baseball team’s season opener against San Joaquin Delta College Tuesday.

The Christopher girls basketball team held Salinas to single-digit scores for three out of four periods.

The Gavilan women's basketball team's nine-game skid has come to an end. 

GILROY — The Christopher girls soccer team triumphed over crosstown rival Gilroy, 4-1, under the Friday night lights of Garcia-Elder Stadium at Gilroy High School.
