BOYS SOCCER: Mustangs edge Yerba Buena, 1-0

A first-half goal from senior Jonathan Diaz De Leon held as the game winner in a 1-0 victory for the Gilroy High boys soccer team over Yerba Buena on Tuesday night in Gilroy.

Prep Roundup: Oct. 31

The Gilroy girls volleyball team is on a roll. The Mustangs ignited a two-game winning streak with a 3-0 win over Pajaro Valley at home Wednesday. GHS won 25-18, 25-9, 25-20.  Sarah Weiby led the way for Gilroy, racking up 11 kills in the game. Alexis Conley added seven kills while McKenna Moreley and Leilani Mah each had five a piece.  Jenna Clonts and Mah acted like a brick wall, guarding the net and coming up with four blocks each.

The annual Bob Hagen Tournament featured strong play from local teams, with an all South County consolation finals and Christopher capturing the tournament championship over North Monterey County.

Gavilan Roundup: Oct. 8

The Gavilan and Ohlone volleyball teams went back and forth in Set 1 of Wednesday's match-up. But after the Rams recorded the first victory, 25-22, it was smooth sailing for Gavilan, which won in straight sets in Fremont. 

Workin’ like a Ram

The Gavilan College football program hosted a skills camp for high school athletes July 11 at the school. Players from Christopher, Sobrato, Monte Vista Christian, Santa Teresa and Salinas high schools all took part in the camp, which Rams head coach Mike Dovenberg called a huge success.
