Christopher High’s swim teams swept meets at Gilroy High on Friday, with the Cougars’ boys defeating the rival Mustangs 135-5 and the Cougars’ girls winning 93-76.

Wyatt Rocheleau scored 21 points and Shane Suttles added 18 points to help Christopher’s boys basketball team open the Bulldog Chase Tournament with a 56-43 victory over host Sobrato on Thursday night.

Big plays burned upset-minded Christopher High in the first half and injuries to three starters made its task of handing visiting Salinas its first Monterey Bay League Gabilan Division loss that much more daunting.

As a freshman, Christopher’s Jamie Boutte didn’t know what to expect entering Saturday’s Central Coast Section cross country championship at Toro Park in Salinas. Her head coach, Mike Bonomi, wasn’t sure what he was going to see from the young freshman on the section stage.

Collins Okoronkwo and Kaelee Scott walked across the Christopher High School campus on a Sunday. Confetti from Thursday’s graduation still lay strewn about the grounds. Signs still adorned the outer walls of warning parents not to bring in fireworks or other noisemakers.
