SANTA CLARA—Christopher High diver Anthony Lopez is light-years ahead of where he was three years ago. As a freshman, the Cougar finished 27th at the Central Coast Section Swim and Dive Championships. This year, the Cougar contorted his body in impossible ways to take his place among the section’s best with a ninth place finish.

While most people were spending the holiday relaxing, Christopher was getting busy at Spikefest I.

The Gilroy boys golf team is riding high.

Christopher extended its winning streak to three with a 78-50 victory over Soledad Wednesday at home.

GILROY — The Christopher girls soccer team was handed not one, but two huge blows heading into Friday’s Monterey Bay Gabilan League opener.

It was a battle, but a 38-point second half showing from its opponent was too much for the Christopher girls basketball team to overcome.

The Christopher and Gilroy tennis teams met for a crosstown clash, but only one could come out on top.
