Gilroy – A San Martin man who was stabbed multiple times in the neck Wednesday night was released Friday afternoon from Kaiser Santa Teresa in south San Jose.

A motive for the incident that left Scott Bargar, 24, in critical condition and unconscious for more than a day, remains unclear, Morgan Hill Police Lt. Terry Booten said Friday.

While investigators have interviewed Bargar, Booten declined to offer details about his statement.

“The investigation is not complete,” Booten said. “We are still working on finding out exactly what transpired Wednesday.”

Anthony Aguilera, 20, of Gilroy, remains jailed on prior warrants and a parole violation hold. He was initially arrested on suspicion of stabbing Bargar at a Morgan Hill motel Wednesday afternoon.

Aguilera was captured following a foot pursuit and hours-long search Wednesday night. He was wanted by Gilroy police on three other felony charges, including an attempted murder.

Monique Zamaripa, 22, of Gilroy, who led police on a car chase Wednesday with Aguilera in her car, was released after posting $50,000 bail Friday. Cassandra Arciniega, 20, also of Gilroy, was released Friday pending completion of the investigation and formal filing of charges.
