Red Phone

I’m having a problem getting five streetlights on Murray Avenue lit. There are five streetlights that have been out since March. I’ve talked to Henry and Joe and they told us by October it would be done, and they still haven’t done it. The last thing they said was that it was political. I don’t know what that means. Maybe you can help me.
Red Phone is happy to report that there is good news. It spoke to Henry Servin, Gilroy City Traffic Engineer, who is aware of the problem.
When first contacted about the lighting problem, it took some time to figure out where these lamps were. Servin recommends callers provide the location of the lamps or pole numbers—only then can a repair ticket be issued.
In this case, “The poles are located south of Leavesley on the east side of Murray, in front of a hotel between Angelica and a gas station,” Servin said. “A crew was dispatched to fix the lamps.”
Crews checked the electrical power to the lamps and could not detect power. Servin said neighborhood landscapers admitted to damaging an electrical conduit while digging.
The repair requires excavating the street, gutter and curb, according to Servin. The repair work recently received approval from the City Council, and Servin has issued a work order with Cal West to fix the conduit with the electrical wires soon.
