Each month, the principals of Gilroy and Christopher high schools choose a total of four students (two from GHS and two from CHS) to spotlight. GHS junior Sara Cedano, 17, is this week’s Student of the Week.
What inspires you?
My AP teachers, past and present, have been my inspiration these past two years because they have pushed me to become a better student and take matters into my own hands.
What is your favorite subject in school, and why?
My favorite subject would have to be Anatomy/Physiology because it is both challenging and interesting. I like that I can see this in my everyday life, and I don’t ever hear myself saying, “When am I ever going to need this in my life?”
If you had the power to change one thing in the world, what would it be?
I would choose the power to eliminate narrow mindedness. I feel that this is the source to many of the major problems of this world.
If you could go anywhere, where would you go?
I would definitely go to the set of “Grey’s Anatomy.” I absolutely love that show and would enjoy meeting all the cast.
Name one big challenge in your life right now:
COLLEGE APPLICATIONS. The deadline to turn these in is approaching quickly and this process has caused so much stress. It’s been hard trying to balance school, extracurricular (activities), and these applications.
What is your dream job?
My dream job would be one where at the end of it all I feel as though I haven’t worked a day in my life. This doesn’t mean that my dream job doesn’t require a lot of work but that I would love it so much that it doesn’t feel like work.
If you were stuck on a deserted island, what three things could you not live without?
Those three things would have to be my precious iPhone, a good book, and water.
Favorite book:
My favorite book is “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee, and has been my favorite since the eighth grade.
Something that makes you smile:
Good music and dancing are things that could put a smile on my face.
