DEAR EDITOR:

Your front-page headline on Tuesday said “Three more days, then the Pledge of Allegiance dies.” Why? Because ONE man didn’t like it that his daughter had to say it in school and he doesn’t believe in God.

Our lawmakers might be book smart but they have very little common sense. They waste their time and our money debating whether it should be legal or not for school students to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.

If the problem is only with the phrase “under God” just take that part out. It was not there in the first place only being added 49 years ago in 1954. The article said that the court’s ruling apparently allows recitation of the phrase if the words “under God” are not used, however, Elk Grove School District, a defendant in the suit, said it would not consider reciting the pledge without the “under God” phrase.

So, why does that mean ALL public schools can’t say the pledge without that phrase? We cannot let our Pledge of Allegiance die. What kind of a message does that send to our military troops being sent around the world to defend our flag? What kind of message does it send to our enemies? Get serious 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and use your power wisely. Please take a stand for patriotism because our country needs as much support as she can get or she will NOT be indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
