TENNIS: Alisal sweeps doubles play in 5-2 win over Christopher

Cougars drop 6-1 decision to Palma
After breezing through the first set en route to a 6-0 victory, Christopher High’s No. 4 singles player Ryan Cockcroft had a little extra work to do in the second set.

Challenged from wire to wire by Matt Terra, Cockcroft heeded the call and pulled out a 7-5 win to give the Cougars tennis team its lone point against Palma in a Tri-County Athletic League dual meet Thursday in Gilroy.

Head coach Patrick McBrearty said the marathon second set didn’t lack in long rallies and added that his No. 4 player deserved the “perseverance award” for sticking it out.
