Officers from both the California Highway Patrol and Santa Clara
County Sheriff’s Office will be at Chevy’s Fresh Mex Restaurant
from 6 to 9pm March 31 to take orders and deliver enchiladas to
customers, alongside the regular wait staff.

Gilroy – The police will be waiting tables next Thursday night, to raise funds for Special Olympics Northern California.
Officers from both the California Highway Patrol and Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office will be at Chevy’s Fresh Mex Restaurant from 6 to 9pm March 31 to take orders and deliver enchiladas to customers, alongside the regular wait staff.
In exchange for their prompt and friendly service, they’ll ask customers for additional “tips,” with all of the proceeds benefiting Special Olympics. The event, called “Tip-A-Cop,” seeks to raise roughly $2,000 per officer to benefit Special Olympics.
Such fundraisers are held at different locations throughout the year to support the program locally and throughout the state.
Chevy’s customers will get to hear information about the Tip-A-Cop event, as well as Special Olympics, from the officers.
Special Olympics Northern California serves more than 14,000 people with developmental disabilities who live from the Oregon border to Monterey and Tulare counties, according to its Web site. The non-profit offers training and competition to the disabled athletes year-round, thanks to financial support that comes almost exclusively from individuals, organizations, corporations, and foundations.
Tip-A-Cop will be held Thursday, March 31, at Chevy’s on 8440 Murray Ave., from 6 to 9pm.
