Tony Ferreira died Saturday, March 27, 2004, at San Jose Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was 48.

A native of Pico, Azores, Mr. Ferreira moved to Santa Clara County as a child in 1961. He attended Morgan Hill schools and Live Oak High School. He loved the outdoors, and after school he began farming organic row crops in the Morgan Hill/Gilroy area. He enjoyed deep-sea fishing, hunting and his vegetable garden.

Mr. Ferreira was the loving father of Tenica Garcia of Hollister, Sheena Ferreira of Fresno and Autumn Ferreira of Hollister; the dear son of Antonio and Filomena Ferreira of Morgan Hill; the brother of Alzira Hernandez of Morgan Hill, Lidia and Tim Gomes of Fremont, Manny and Susan Ferreira of Gilroy, and Maria and Allen Bosley of Meridian, Idaho; the uncle of Joe Ferreira, James and Courtney Hernandez of Morgan Hill, Michael and Kellie Gomes of Fremont, Manny and Anna Ferreira Jr. and Denise Ferreira, both of Boston, Mass., Donald and Sharon Bosley and Sandy Bosley all of Meridian. He also is survived by grand-nephews, Caleb Henandez and Thomas and Marcus Bosley.

A rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2004, at Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy. Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m., Friday, April 2, 2004 at the funeral home, then a Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Morgan Hill. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Morgan Hill.
