Haley Romero won two events and placed in two others to lead Christopher High’s girls track and field program to the team title at the North Salinas Invitational on Saturday.
Romero won the long jump at 16 feet, 9 inches, and was on the 400 relay team with Olivia Baxter, Vanessa Koontz and Carlene McPolin that won the event in 51.75 seconds. Romero also took second in the 100 hurdles in 17.03 and third in the pole vault at 6-7.
Christopher’s girls won with 103 points, topping second-place King City by 37.
McPolin also was third in the 100 in 13.7, and part of the 800 sprint medley team that claimed second in 2:00.14.
Christopher’s Jamie Boutté finished second in the 3,200 in 12:21.31, setting a school record in the process.
Boutté also was on the winning 3,200 relay team (10:36.53) with Rachel Allen, Natalia Gutierrez and Bridget Brown.
Christopher’s Bryan Pipkin won the boys pole vault, setting a school record at 13-1.
