Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office has announced.
Two Gilroy Police Department detectives will receive awards Thursday honoring their efforts as advocates for crime victims, the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office has announced.
Jason Smith and John Ballard, detectives in the GPD’s Sexual Assault Unit, will be given Unsung Hero Awards during a ceremony at noon Thursday in the San Jose Police Officers Association Hall, located at 1151 North Fourth St. in San Jose.
The two will be among recipients from a wide variety of agencies, including law enforcement officials and those who specialize in assisting domestic violence and sexual assault victims.
Smith and Ballard were nominated by Community Solutions, which provides treatment, intervention in mental health, assisting victims in child abuse and domestic violence among other programs to help communities from South San Jose to San Benito County.
