GILROY – An illegal U-turn led to the arrest of two people for possessing $20,000 worth of stolen merchandise and several false driver’s licenses, according to police.

Upon stopping the vehicle at 11:41 p.m. Friday at state Highway 152 and Camino Arroyo, police reportedly found an array of merchandise that appeared to be brand new. The goods were mostly clothes – many of them expensive, such as $200 men’s shirts. There also were two small motorbikes.

Police are investigating where the merchandise came from and what the two people were doing with it, but did say they are sure it is stolen.

The passenger in the vehicle, a 20-year-old parolee from Palo Alto named Dwayne Everette Robinson, had $15,000 cash on his person and originally gave a false name, according to police.

The driver, a 23-year-old woman with a Fresno post office box address, had three driver’s licenses under the name of Shawna Denise Hellburg. Police said her fingerprints matched a different identity, unavailable as of press time.

Police arrested both on suspicion of possession of stolen property. Robinson also was arrested on suspicion of violating her parole and with a misdemeanor for giving a false name. She also was arrested on suspicion of making, selling, offering for sale or transferring a false document, a misdemeanor.
