The South Valley Symphony will hold its Winter Romance concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Gavilan College Theater. Anthony Quartuccio, music director and conductor Jason Klein. Guest conductor Scott Spangler, soloist.

The Choirs are putting on our first annual "Winter Lights Celebration" concert on Friday and Saturday, December 6 and 7. The concert will be at Rucker's new Theater at 7:30 PM. We encourage you to get there early for refreshments and to enjoy some Christmas Caroling prior to the concert. The students are very excited about this production and I know it would mean a lot to them if they saw you there. This is a family-friendly concert with holiday music, decorations, lights, dancing, and just plain fun! So we invite you to come.

Christmas can be a painful time for some. It may be the first Christmas without a loved family member who has recently died; it may be a time that has always been difficult. The constant refrains on radio and television, in shopping malls and churches, about the happiness of the season, about getting together with family and friends, reminds many people of what they have lost and they feel alone in the midst of the celebrating and joy. 

A Chanukah candle-lighting ceremony, sponsored by South County's Congregation Emeth, will allow all to participate in this ancient festival of freedom with candle lighting, blessings, storytelling and singing.
