Should you take a pension buyout?

Gilroy HS activities Oct. 28 – Nov. 6

It has been a busy last couple of weeks here at Gilroy High School! Last week was homecoming. Homecoming week at GHS is controlled chaos. During the week we had spirit days, float building, royalty, and a rally. Homecoming week came to an end on Friday, with a parade, football game, and announcement  of homecoming King and Queen (Brandon Boyd and Leilani Mah). The halftime was topped off by a great fireworks display as well.  

Charter School of MH meeting, tours, open enrollment

A parent information meeting for anyone interested in learning more about the Charter School will be held at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 28, 2014 at 9530 Monterey Road, multipurpose room, Morgan Hill. School tours and classroom visits will be held Feb. 3-7. Reservations recommended. Open enrollment will be held Feb. 3-March 7. A lottery will be held in the multipurpose room at 3:30 p.m. April 9. CHS Holiday Boutique

The Christopher High School Holiday Boutique will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15 in the CHS dining commons, 850 Day Road. More than 35 vendors will be selling everything from unique arts and crafts, jewelry, handmade one-of-a-kind treasures, clothing, handbags, sweet delights and more. Enjoy a night out and get a good start on your holiday shopping. All proceeds support the Christopher High School Parent Club and are used for senior scholarships, honor roll recognition, staff appreciation and supplies for teachers.

‘The Curious Savage’

The Gilroy High School fall play, “The Curious Savage,” shows at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 8, 9, 14, 15 and 16 and at 2 p.m. Nov. 10 in the GHS Theater. Tickets are $10.

College Fair

South County Cal-SOAP will hold its 9th annual College Fair from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7 in the Gilroy High School Student Center. No reservations are required and the event is open to all community members. Opportunity to win door prizes will be available to all students in attendance, upon receipt of their evaluation of the event. Details: (408) 846-7504.

Enjoy a Cougar-Q

The first CHS Athletic Boosters Cougar-Q tri tip dinner fundraiser will be held Saturday, Nov. 9. $28 meal for four includes whole tri tip, garlic bread and garlic chili beans. Tickets on sale through Nov. 6 at CHS games, Rabobank in Gilroy (Nob Hill Center) or through your favorite CHS sports team. Drive through pick up of your complete meal will be available from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 in CHS front lot. Details: Rosie Menacho at (408) 706-0903.

Change in weather ushers in dreaded comforter thief

You know it's fall when there is a crisp breeze, the leaves gently fly from the trees, the air turns colder and I spend about 10 minutes deciding the best way to kill my husband. Oh, stop judging me. It's totally justifiable homicide, according to my extensive research that consists mainly of repeats of “Law & Order,” with a couple of “CSI” episodes thrown in so I know how to hide all the evidence.
