It was a young guy from Hollister, Johnny Lomanto, who dominated our area’s roadster races. Many “hot rods” used Ford’s flat-head V-8, but Johnny raced a cut-down pickup with a hopped up GMC Six.

The way it looks now, in January she will become the most powerful woman in the world.
We must preserve Coyote Valley
The South County is growing by leaps and bounds. Many residents commute to jobs in San Jose and parts north. Why not build new homes and businesses in the Coyote Valley, that empty stretch of U.S. 101 between here and there?
School marks 50 years
Morgan Hill is a very different place today than it was 50 years ago. Then it was a farming community with a population of some 4,000 residents. The sick were treated in 50-bed Wheeler Hospital in Gilroy; north-south traffic passed directly through downtown on Monterey Highway; the largest employers were a signal flare maker, a travel trailer builder and animal feed processors.
