After the death of my dog Pumpkin last year, I couldn’t imagine another dog stealing my heart the way she did. But three months later, along came Bailey, whose photo on a rescue website made me catch my breath. I knew I was meant to be hers.

This little ball of cuteness is Coach. He’s a 3-year-old poodle-mix who rescued me two years ago. When I saw him at the shelter in Yuma, Ariz. I knew I was destined to give him his forever home. I’ve never known the absolute love and joy of any dog prior or any dog since – he really is my soul pup. While he’s a ball of energy who loves running in the park and chasing squirrels, he’s also perfectly happy cuddling and watching TV. In case you’re wondering: He’s not named after Coach, the luxury leather goods brand, but Coach Ditka from the 1985 Super Bowl champion Chicago Bears.

Beagle and Schnitzel; two little brown rescues that run our lives. We rescued Beagle from a shelter in Santa Cruz five years ago and nursed him through Parvo. A 12-pound little dachshund/Chihuahua mix originally named Wasabi, which we changed due to our love for the breed of beagle. He is quite regal, like an eagle, our Beagle. We loved him so much, he was the ring bearer at our wedding.

Bella is a very sweet 2-year-old shepherd mix. Her favorite time of the day is when daddy takes her out front to watch traffic or to play. She loves chasing balls all over the yard and is very good at catching soccer balls.

Gone are the days when you only had the choice of a desk and chair for your home office.  Today's home office furnishings options are all but endless.  So, first things first!  As with any decorating project, you first need to determine what you want to accomplish in your new home office, and then match those needs with the right furnishings.

South Valley residents will have a unique opportunity next week when Morgan Hill's Advent Lutheran Church (16870 Murphy Avenue) will host a performance of the Diyar Dance Theatre on Tuesday, October 1 at 7 p.m. Admission to “Room for Hope” will be by donation.

Almost everywhere you look, small formally littered lots as well as larger vacant parcels are being developed into new homes. As we drive around Morgan Hill there is everything from low income senior apartments to luxury homes and everything in between.

What some of us do not know is that the Declaration of Independence was not signed on July 4, and was ratified and completely signed months later. But none of this takes away from the delight of A.C.T.'s production of “1776”.
