New display at City Hall
Butterflies in Flight, shadow boxes and African themed art, creations by artist Louise Shields, are currently on display in the Gilroy City Hall Gallery. The unique pieces are not only attractively displayed but I've been told by some of the ladies who work at City Hall that Louise's art makes them happy.
Who you gonna call?
Those of us who are old enough to remember the “Ghostbusters” film from 1984 recall this catchy refrain. Who are you going to call for help when your house is haunted? Ghostbusters!

Adopt Powder
Powder is available for adoption at Pet Friends. He is an older Flame-point Siamese cat, but he's not the talker that many Siamese cats are. He's kind of shy at first, but does warm up to people he is familiar withand loves a neck rub. He's usually relaxing on a cat tree in the cat room at Pet Friends; but would love to have a sunny spot at a home of his own. He's not agressive with other cats, and would love to have a quiet home of his own. Come by Pet Friends at 2975 Buena Vista Road in Hollister to see him in the cat room. See his picture on http://www.petfriends.org/, or call Pet Friends at 831- 634-1191.
Jesus’ existence a fallacy? That’s an absolutely absurd statement
A group of atheists recently purposed to embark on a militant approach to advance their cause that God does not exist. Atheist author, Stephen Hawkins, claims he searched, but found no evidence God exists. Followers have embraced his audacious claims and unwisely deny biblical historical facts. God’s existence and truths have been challenged for thousands of years, yet the Bible remains humanity’s best guidepost for living.
Gilroy loves a parade; embracing our ag heritage may be Econ 101 ticket
The Gilroy Police Department’s motorcycle traffic unit put on a nice bob-and-weave demonstration at our wonderful homespun Memorial Day parade. As the cars, displays and honorable veterans motored by and my grandchildren waved their flags in delight, I thought a thank you to former Mayor Mike Gilroy and former Councilman Bob Dillon and their cohorts for starting this annual event. It’s a great tradition.
TERAJI: My trip to Minnesota: The Land of Nice…and SPAM!
It’s the time of year for vacations, so when I heard that my husband was being sent by his boss to attend a computer conference in Minnesota called “Cold Fusion. Objective” at a brand new hotel located in the Great Mall of America, it was an opportunity to visit a part of our great nation I had never seen.
Support groups provide caring therapy
Rather than trying to cope with Silicon Valley's fast-paced, stressful life alone, some people take advantage of the support offered through counseling or therapy. Sometimes support groups can be helpful – they provide awareness or consciousness, followed by education, growth and acceptance that help in the healing process. Such groups addressing many areas of need are available in South Valley. The Morgan Hill United Methodist Church (17175 Monterey St.) hosts several (free or with sliding-scale fees) that are focused on common, everyday trials and tribulations.
Questions about missing homework a new family ritual
All families have rituals. They are the little things that families do all the time, like walking together to school. Or eating dinner together every night. Of course, my family is no exception. Except that one of our main rituals is watching the teenager run around every morning searching for his homework.
