Christians begin preparation for Easter
Despite society’s exuberance regarding Christmas, Easter is “the greatest and oldest feast of the Christian Church.” This ancient holiday commemorates the resurrection from the dead of Jesus Christ and is the linchpin of a whole series of Christian holy days.
Financial gifts for longtime Valentines
Love is in the air this week, as Valentine’s Day rolls around again. During the course of your life, you’ve probably sent your share of flowers and candy. But if your valentine is also your spouse – and, in particular, your longtime spouse – you may want to go beyond roses and chocolates this year to give a gift that can help lead to financial security.
Looks like another fun-filled sleaze fest in 2013
With 2012 barely behind us, already 2013 is gearing up to be one blowout bonanza of tawdriness.
Gearing up for a super fun weekend and a visit from the OSU rugby ladies
Can’t wait for Colin Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers to put a whuppin’ on Ray Lewis and the Baltimore Ravens in Sunday’s Super Bowl. Really sick of Ray Lewis fawning all over himself and drawing attention to himself with antics like prostrating himself on the ground in front of the TV cameras. His whole act smacks of demagoguery to the point that if the conversation turns to Ray-ray on the ray-radio or ray TV, I turn the station. The 49ers’ linebacker Patrick Willis, on the other hand, understands that he plays a game for a living and does so with just as much intensity and skill, but a heavy amount of appreciation and humility.

South Valley businesses rejoice over 49ers run
San Francisco 49ers fans will likely be forever grateful to Jim Harbaugh for coaching the franchise to its first Super Bowl appearance in 18 years this season.
Commentary: 49ers punctuate rebirth of Bay Area sports
In each of the past two seasons, the San Francisco 49ers have rallied behind one battle cry after each win.
Getting Out: Pescadero Marsh worth the trip
Every time I drive along state Route 1 between Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz, I can’t help but think of all the things I am surely missing. On one side, curious country roads – Gazos Creek Road, Bean Hollow Road – beckon as I pass by. On the other side, I know that one beach after another is hidden at the base of the cliff beyond the few cars parked at a succession of unmarked access points.
Safest medications bought from vet’s office
Q: Our vet has always allowed us to buy medication for our pets online. But she keeps telling us that she feels “safer” if we get it from her. It costs a bit more to do this. Why would it be safer buying medications from our vet’s office?
Prescription to save an ailing California
Only a fool, or perhaps a politician or media pundit, would say California is not in trouble, despite some modest recent improvements in employment and a decline in migration out of the state. Yet the patient, if still very sick, is curable, if the right medicine is taken, followed by the proper change in lifestyle regimen.
