A 28-year-old female fought through relatives to stab her uncle in the chest with a pocket knife this afternoon, police said.

Selena Gonzalez’s mother and grandmother had separated her from her uncle after the two got into an argument for unknown reasons inside a house at 7691 Forest St., near its intersection with IOOF Avenue, police said. After the dispute, the uncle went into the garage to cool off, but Gonzalez soon ran in after him, pushed past her mother and grandmother, and stabbed her uncle once in the upper right portion of his chest 12:15 p.m. Thursday, police said.

The victim, 51, only sustained a superficial wound and had already been released from the hospital by 5 p.m., Sgt. Jim Gillio said. Police charged Gonzalez with assault with a deadly weapon.
