Gavilan College held its third annual Fiesta Mexico Concert on Saturday inside the Gavilan College Theatre Arts Department. In addition to Saturday night’s performance, this year’s event featured additional elements. There were two dance workshop sessions Saturday morning, along with a Sunday performance featuring seven different dance companies.

“I would say it was an overall success. All of the participants and visitors were exceptionally happy,” said Steven Koneffklatt, general director of Ballet Folklorico Costa de Oro and one of the facilitators collaborating on the event. “For the workshops we had 60 plus participants during the day, and the evening show was almost a sellout. I would say we had the theater at 90 percent capacity.” Koneffklatt said they’re hoping to return to Gavilan next October or March.
