is looking for volunteers ages 7 and older to help pick plums at a
local private farm. The proposed dates for the harvest are Saturday
through August 26 and August 29, but plans will depend on
volunteers’ availability.

The plums will go to the hungry at St. Joseph’s in Gilroy and Second Harvest Food Bank in San Jose among others.
Elaine Hays, team leader for Village Harvest in Morgan Hill said Village Harvest is hoping for 40 to 50 volunteers available weekday mornings and currently has responses from six interested volunteers.
Volunteers will work in groups of 20 to 25 and pick up plums that have been shaken off the trees prior to the event.
“We are trying to raise a generation of children who want to volunteer,” said Hays, who plans to bring her own family to the event. “This is a great opportunity to impact the hungry who live here and to get back in touch with the local harvest.”
