Ten women between the ages of 18 and 20 will compete to become
the 26th Gilroy Garlic Festival Queen at 7 p.m. Saturday at the
Gavilan College Theater.
Ten women between the ages of 18 and 20 will compete to become the 26th Gilroy Garlic Festival Queen at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Gavilan College Theater.

Contestants from around the area will be judged in the areas of personal interview, talent, evening gown and garlic speech. The garlic speech can consist of a song, skit or dance.

In addition to the selection of the Gilroy Garlic Festival Queen, scholarships will be awarded to many pageant contestants. The queen and members of her court will be awarded cash prizes, trophies and gifts.

Melissa Noto, a UC Davis student, is the reigning queen and is scheduled to emcee the event.

Tickets to the event are $5 and are available at the Gilroy Garlic Festival Association office at 7473 Monterey St. or by calling 842-1625.
